Master of Coiffure - Shyam Bhatia
Born in September of
1967 to a family of barbers in Pali, Rajasthan; as a young boy Shyam Bhatia
took to comb and scissors as a fish takes to waters. From being unwittingly
involved in the profession as a family tradition to making his own mark in
the world of glamour and glitter, Shyam has finally made it. Shyam as a
young lad was fascinated with the world of beauty and glamour, finally
decided to pack his bag and chase his dream in the city of hope, Mumbai.
Thus, in 1982, Shyam landed himself a job as salon assistant in the
prestigious BIG BOSS SALON in Mumbai. It was here, that Shyam perfected his
art of grooming and transformed
himself from a mere novice to a professional
hair designer and dresser. After five years of rigorous work-cum-training,
it was in mid 1987, Shyam joined TOKYO BEAUTY PARLOUR, another prestigious
beauty salon of South Mumbai. Here Shyam advanced his technique in the art
of haircutting and styling.
It was during his stint
with Tokyo Beauty Parlour, that professional hair Style Poster makers,
Vision Publicity approached him to do their latest hair-styling poster. Thus
Shyam's styles began to be part of adornment of hundreds and thousan ds of
salons, parlours and barbershops across the country. It was these styles
that finally saw Shyam swaying his comb through the heads of celebrities and
his golden scissors snip their hair. Thus Shyam started to gain popularity
in Bollywood. From films to television, from stage to mega events, Shyam
Bhatia was the name that could not be replaced as far as make-up and
hair-dressing of artists goes.
Shyam was now a part of the credit lines of
innumerable television serials and films.
This was, but, just a part of the dream that the young lad from Pali had
dreamed. There was much more to follow. It was in 1995 that Shyam with his
honest earnings established his first beauty parlour in the far-flung suburb
of Mumbai, Bhayander. With Bhayender gaining its popularity as the
residential destination of middle class and upper class business community,
shyam saw his business flourishing. Today Shyam has a total of three beauty
parlours, two in Bhayander and one in Borivali. Besides catering to the
beauty needs of the masses, Shyam has also established his own beauty school
where he trains young budding talents and enthusiast and prepares them to be
part of the industry, either as employed or self employed individuals.
Besides the beauty schools, Shyam also holds various workshops, seminars and
forums on beauty and promotional events for various beauty products and
applications.
A figure of 5000 bridal make-ups in a career spaning just a decade maybe
considered as a great achievement, but for humble Shyam Bhatia, this is but,
just the beginning.
